Caring for your Guinea Pig

Guinea pigs can suffer from a variety of illness just like all other pets and we often get asked for advice on about certain illness or certain areas of Guinea Pig care, so we have created this page to help with some answers.

Click on the right to access a page of each item listed.  If you have a question on a topic that we haven't covered, let us know and we'll see what we can do.  This page is being added to and edited daily at the moment & hopefully will be completed by late January.

Finding a Great Guinea Pig Veterinarian

Guinea pigs can be very complexed creatures and actually come under an exotic pet.

Finding a good guinea pig vet is one of the first steps to do when bringing a guinea pig into your life,

Guinea Pigs are classed as Exotic pets and not every Veterinary Surgery knows how to look after Guinea Pigs properly. Do your research before your pet gets ill and find and register with a good vet NOW.

When you register with a vet, make sure you have given them written consent for someone else to bring your pet to the vet for you when you are unable to, like your pet sitter for example.

We use and have been recommended:

Catherine at Hednesford Animal Hospital 12 MARKET STREET, HEDNESFORD, CANNOCK WS12 1AF        TEL: 01543 878625

We have been very highly recommended by some friends to use:

You can find her on Facebook too.

It's quite a trek out from where we are, but I have been told she an expert and definitely worth the journey.
